Dennis G. Whelpley grew up on a farm in Wellsville, New York. He attended Alfred University and received his J.D. from Albany Law School in 1980. Mr. Whelpley is a member of the New York and Jefferson County Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice before all New York State courts, as well as the U.S District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Whelpley served four years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He then practiced general litigation in the private sector in Plattsburg, NY, before settling in Jefferson County in 1985 to open a Watertown office for the law firm Bond, Schoenk & King, PLLC, of which he was a partner. He was associated with Schwerzmann & Wise, P.C. in Watertown, from 1993 to January 2016, when he joined the Conboy Law Firm.
Mr. Whelpley practices law primarily in the areas of municipal law and finance, business and real estate, currently representing clients that include area towns, villages and school districts. He is a “Red Book” listed municipal bond attorney and an active member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
